Children, innately curious, love purposeful learning.  At Amherst Montessori School we are committed to nurturing the unfolding of the innate brilliance of each child.  The role of the Montessori educator is to prepare the environment for each child’s individual exploration and challenge, while guiding each child to their highest potential emotionally, socially, culturally, and academically.

At Amherst Montessori School we pride ourselves on providing a traditional Montessori education in a culture of excellence.  Each classroom provides a full set of Montessori materials, designed for hands-on learning, and a certified Montessori teacher.  Our classrooms create a beautiful center for the child’s education, yet not the boundary.  The Montessori curriculum focuses on exploring the beauty and intricacies of our world.  Culture, botany, zoology, science, language, mathematics, music and much more fill our young friends’ hours with the delight of discovery and the pride of deep concentration and exploration. 

Our Peace Curriculum provides necessary tools for children to facilitate friendships and even mediations.  It is in these early years of education that the individual’s foundations are laid.  Each child establishes patterns and self-expectations for life, and we take our role as partners in each child’s development very seriously.
