Summer Sessions
Amherst Montessori
School, guided by the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori,
nurtures the natural unfolding genius of the whole child in a
supportive, culturally rich and diverse learning community.
Each child comes into the world with a unique set of abilities and a beautiful personality ready to unfold. Young children are innately curious and excited learners. An Amherst Montessori Summer fosters each child's own joy of discovery and allows children to explore the areas of science, culture, language and music.
The word summer triggers a sense of freedom in children, a chance to play and learn in a more relaxed and fun atmosphere. Our summer sessions offer a variety of exciting and stimulating choices, encouraging children to discover new friendships and explore new experiences, while creating an environment that allows them to feel safe enough to be themselves and to follow their personal path of creativity and curiosity.
Our Children's House friends travel to the Hampshire College Pool on a yellow school bus for swimming during each session. During our swim excursions we provide extra staffing, and Hampshire College provides Life Guards, as well.

Swim Days

Exploring the Amazon’s forests & rivers, Brazilian dance, and songs in Portuguese!
Session 3: July 12 - July 23
China:
China:
Exploring string instruments, a “visit” to the Great Wall of China, counting in Chinese, Chinese songs, and foods of China!
Session 4: July 26 - August 6
Botswana:
Botswana:
Making Binoculars, making and playing drums, African songs, animals of Botswana, a “visit” to the market place, and African music & dance!

Toddler Summer Sessions
Our Toddler friends need warmth, love, independence and continuity. The Toddler Summer Sessions include music, water play, baking, crafts, tastings and much more.
