The Amherst Montessori School was founded in 1969 by a group of parents and educators seeking to establish a school that would foster in its children mutual respect, self-reliance and a life-long love of learning. Over the past three decades, our school has grown from a one-room school house to two campuses, housing three levels of learning.
The school is run through the collaborative efforts of parents, staff and members of the local community. The volunteer Board of Directors is comprised of parents and community members, who draw upon their combined areas of expertise to guide the school.
The parent population is dynamic and involved. Through fundraising, social events and myriad school-based activities, the school has grown a cohesive network of participatory parents. Ours is a truly collaborative community where everyone works together for the benefit of children.
